Another stellar achievement has been added to the country’s sporting portfolio as the national men’s handball team secured its fifth consecutive champion’s title at the 7th edition of the Asian Beach Handball tournament held in the Chinese city of Weihai.

Defending champions Qatar beat Oman 2-0 in the final clash of the tournament, which was held at the Tianmu Resort Village in Zhang Jiachan Town in the city of Weihai.
The Qatari team clinched victory in all five matches they played in the tournament, against teams from Philippines, Afghanistan, Vietnam, and Iran, leading up to the final against Oman.
Oman and Qatar have been facing each other in the tournament’s final for the last four editions.
Qatar has retained the winner’s title since the 2011 edition of the tournament while Oman had won the inaugural edition in 2004.

Both Qatar and Oman have sealed their spots at the inaugural ANOC World Beach Games that will kick off in Doha in October this year.
The two teams will also be competing in the 2020 IHF Beach Handball Championships set to take place in Italy.
