Qatar Charity Field Teams have provided aid to those impacted by the floods that struck in large parts of West Kordofan, providing emergency food and shelter assistance to over 5,824 vulnerable people. Moreover, the Field Teams were able to extend a hand to most individuals in need of food and shelter materials in 15 villages of Al-Khoei in West Kordofan.

The people who benefited from Qatar Charity’s initiative expressed their delight and gratitude from providing them with assistance. Sharif Bushra, whose house had collapsed completely, thanked the donors in the State of Qatar for their help after being provided with a tent for his family.

Suleiman Al-Nayer, an individual affected by the floods, state that Qatar Charity is the first charitable organization to generously support their region after being severely damaged by the floods last August.

Mohamed Youssef, Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid in West Kordofan, said that Qatar Charity intervention in providing food aid to the affected areas came at the appropriate time and has a tremendous positive impact on those affected in Al-Khoei. Moreover, he explained that the damage caused by the flood in certain areas where Qatar Charity intervened, were beyond the government’s capabilities to provide aid.

Muhammad Musa, Program Manager at Qatar Charity Office in Sudan, said that the food aid came with the support of a Qatari donor who took the initiative to support the affected people in Al-Khoy with shelter materials and (832) basket containing quantities of urgent food needs, and indicated that about 5824 affected people have benefited from Qatari food aid.

Moussa noted that the provision of tents and shelter materials to those whose homes were destroyed comes within the campaign (Peace for Sudan), which could reach the areas most affected by floods, in Khartoum, the Nile River, Sennar, and Al Jazeera. Moreover, the campaign was officially welcomed and much appreciated by the people of Sudan.
