Qatar Foundation (QF) celebrated its 25th anniversary yesterday at an event titled ‘I AM QF,’ showcasing the organization’s tremendous efforts and achievements in the field of education, scientific research and community development.

The event brought together QF community members, including staff, faculty, students, researchers, thought leaders and dignitaries to reflect on QF’s contributions in advancing education and bolstering the nation’s sustainable growth.

On the occasion, some of Qatar’s most inspirational women including QF Chairperson, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, QF Vice-Chairperson and CEO, Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani as well as the Spokesperson of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Lolwah Al Khater shared their thoughts on QF’s impact.

Public Health Director Sheikh Dr Mohamed bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar University President Dr Hassan Rashid Al Derham, and ExxonMobil Qatar Vice President Dominic Genetti were also among the distinguished panelists at the event.

Speaking at the celebration, HH Sheikha Moza expressed her delight at seeing long-term community members at the gathering who have witnessed QF’s remarkable growth over the years.

Speaking about the early challenges while setting up QF, Sheikha Moza said the main challenge was to convince others “to make a positive change, and that is through education because education is our true wealth.”

“We focused on building our education ecosystem based on our heritage, not against it. And looking at the activities here today, I was pleased to see how proud and confident the Qatari youth are in their culture and identity, and in speaking the Arabic language,” she said.

“This is what we have been aspiring to create through Qatar Foundation, as well as throughout other educational institutions in Qatar,” she added.

The QF Chairperson added that it was a dream, which was turned to reality through Qatar Foundation and its stakeholders.

HE Sheikha Hind underlined QF’s role as a hub of scientific and educational collaboration, which stimulates idea generation, talent nurturing and knowledge sharing. 

“From its first day to its 25th year” – from allowing students to cross-register for courses at different universities and advancing autism research, to supporting young Arab innovators, and cultivating young people’s STEM skills,” collaboration has been a key factor of QF’s growth, Sheikha Hind noted.

To build on all of QF’s successes, Sheikha Hind said, “we need to disruptively collaborate in a way that allows everyone to see the big picture, and recognize their role in creating it – because QF is a platform for everyone to engage, and contribute.”
