Qatar now hosts over 80 major international events annually, spanning diplomacy, technology, sports, trade, and culture, according to Executive Director of the Permanent Committee for Organising Conferences (PCOC), Mubarak Ajlan Mubarak al-Kuwari. These events are aligned with Qatar’s National Vision and coordinated by the PCOC to position the country as a key venue for global dialogue and innovation.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), al-Kuwari said Qatar has transformed from a small Gulf nation into a global connectivity hub. Events like the Doha Forum and Qatar Economic Forum drew over 8,500 participants from 160+ countries, while Web Summit Qatar 2025 attracted 25,000 attendees, 1,520 startups, and hundreds of investors.

Qatar has become a trusted international partner, hosting everything from GCC summits to interfaith dialogues. Al-Kuwari highlighted the nation's rapid growth as an event destination, with over 5mn international visitors last year—a 25% rise from 2023—and nearly 10mn hotel nights sold. In 2025, 1.5mn visitors arrived in Q1 alone, with 71% hotel occupancy.

This success is backed by top-tier infrastructure like Hamad International Airport, connecting Doha to over 170 cities, and the efficient Doha Metro. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council, 51% of 2025’s international visitors arrived by air, 34% by land, and 15% by sea. Doha’s ranking as the world’s second safest city adds to its appeal.

Al-Kuwari noted that Qatar’s events industry, bolstered by the FIFA World Cup 2022 legacy, is growing at 11% annually and is projected to hit $4.65bn by 2032. In 2025 alone, the sector is expected to contribute QR124.2bn to the economy, support 350,000 jobs, and generate QR98.8bn in international visitor spending.

Upcoming highlights include co-hosting the Second World Summit for Social Development with the UN, the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, and the T100 Triathlon World Championship Final. Alongside these are festivals, exhibitions, and sports events that showcase Qatar’s identity as a meeting point of cultures and ideas.

“In a world searching for authenticity, Qatar is showing what’s possible when a country leads with ambition, hospitality, and heart,” al-Kuwari concluded.
