Qatar's Ministry of Municipality and Environment has launched a new open-air cinema programme called HawaScene in the country's public parks.

The programme was launched in Qatar in an effort to keep up with the latest global developments in the field of outdoor entertainment and open-air cinema viewing, something that has been successfully piloted in neighboring GCC countries.

However, some residents in Qatar are quite familiar with the open-air cinema experience at some of Doha Film Institutes pop-up cinema screenings at MIA Park.

The minstry announced there will also be a children's cinema for the purpose of viewing awareness films, in cooperation with the Ministry and Qatar Foundation, to broadcast films that foster the Arabic language.

A trial run of the HawaScene programme, which is expected to run until March, 2017, will be launched at the Dahl Al Hamad Park. The progamme is expected to be held in rest of Qatar's public parks.

The programme includes, screening of animation films at the public parks from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday and Friday of each week, in order to activate the role of the public parks and provide some entertainment and enjoyment by spending best times over the weekend.
