Qatar Museums has announced the planned events for this year’s Marchitecture, an annual programme that invites its Culture Pass members to explore Qatar’s striking architecture through tours and workshops taking place throughout the month of March.
Qatar Museums’ Culture Pass members can look forward to tailored tours centred on local architecture to highlight the importance and symbolism of Qatar’s urban design. The programming is dedicated to architecture in Qatar showcasing present-day design elements and the notable growth in its architectural landscape, creating a unique built environment in the fabric of the city where the old and new retain equal importance.
Sheikha Shaikha Al Thani, Deputy CEO of Qatar Museums, said: “Qatar Museums’ tailored membership programmes are designed to offer Culture Pass members a deep dive into various aspects of Qatar’s heritage and culture. Members of the community are invited to sign up to Culture Pass to gain exclusive access to all our offerings during March, focusing on Qatar’s fascinating architecture and urban design.”

Programming for this year’s Marchitecture includes:
During the CP Club Townhouses Tour on 5 March from 2pm to 3pm, members will have a chance to visit the new Culture Pass Club, a new twist on the members-only arts club, based in the heart of Doha’s creative oasis and burgeoning design district, Msheireb Downtown.
On 9 March from 4pm to 6pm, Culture Pass members can attend the Taste of Architecture Tour, visiting the first exclusive pastry art gallery of the Ukrainian architect and pastry artist, Dinara Kasko at Tower 4, Porto Arabia, The Pearl. During the tour, members can explore and taste architectural 3D cakes created by Kasko and get to know the story behind each unique design. The tour will be followed an online Q&A session with the pastry artist.
Take the Permaculture and Sustainable Architecture Tour on 12 March from 9am to 11am at Heenat Salma Farm to learn more about sustainable architecture and permaculture design.
During the Architecture of Defence Tour on 19 March from 11am to 1pm, Culture Pass members will visit the most famous examples of defensive architecture in Qatar, learning about current preservation methods and the history and architectural elements of these special buildings. The trip will start at Al Zubarah Fort with visits to Al Rakiyat and Al Thaghab Forts and end at Al Ruwais Old Police Station.
On the History of Architecture in Qatar Tour on 21 March (English) and 24 March (Arabic) from 4pm to 5pm at the National Museum of Qatar, participants will join an insightful journey into the architectural history and traditional patterns in Qatar which reveals its heritage and vision for the future.

As part of its cultural outreach programmes, in February Qatar Museums hosted Atharna, an initiative inviting its Culture Pass members to learn more about Qatar’s archaeological history through curated tours to historical sites across the country. Tours included visits to Al Zubarah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Unequal sisters: Heritage sites Al Ruwaida and Al Jumail, Dye for Kings: Jazirat Bin Ghannam Archaeological Site, Walls in the sea: The fishing heritage of Qatar.
