With only a few more days to go until Qatar National Day (QND) is upon us, sentiments of national pride and patriotism are at an all-time high.

QND 2019 celebrations have already kicked off at Katara Cultural Village today, with more festivities to begin at other locations such as Aspire Zone and Darb Al Saai from tomorrow.

As the special occasion nears, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Cabinet Hamad bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi, in an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) said that Qatar National Day is a reminder of the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani, who established the base and laid the values and principles upon which the State of Qatar was built.

These set of values and principles enabled to make significant achievements and offer the world a bright model of a secure and stable state capable of achieving the highest rates of development and providing the most dignified ways of life for its people and residents.

"We recall on this day the feats of the Founder and remember the successes and achievements of our country and the positive role it plays in the region and the world thanks to the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani," the secretary-general of the Cabinet said.

He expressed pride in the glorious history of the Founder and his efforts and sacrifices, adding "we learned from him how to face challenges and overcome difficulties, which was very relevant in the face of the unjust blockade imposed on the country."

He added, "under the guidance of our leader and the awareness of citizens and solidarity between residents and citizens, we were able to overcome the effects of the blockade and became stronger, more cohesive, self-reliant and capable of building and providing."

Under the blockade, Qatar was able to achieve the highest rates of development and security and safety according to international organizations, HE Al Mohannadi added.

He explained that the General Secretariat of the Cabinet is working to implement Qatar National Vision 2030 in coordination with all state agencies, especially in the legislative field.

He further pointed out that the General Secretariat has completed many important and necessary legislations, especially the legislations on economic affairs and investments, which place a solid ground for the development process and create a sound legal environment for expanding investment and attracting capital.

The secretary-general of the Cabinet concluded by expressing his congratulations on the National Day, which has become a national occasion to remember the glories of our ancestors, who created a proud history for us, as well as recognize the achievements made in this prosperous era.
