The Qatar National Library (QNL), which has been a stunning addition to Qatar's awe-inspiring architecture, has vowed local and international visitors since its inception in 2018.

With over 1.5 million books in its collection in addition to more than 500,000 ebooks, periodicals and newspapers, among others, QNL has been a dream-come-true for book-lovers, academia, researchers, students alike. 

In the latest achievement for the fascinating library, it has been honored by the American Concrete Institute (ACI) with an "Excellence in Concrete Construction Award."

The building secured the first place in the “Decorative Concrete” category.

The Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards recognize concrete projects at the forefront of innovation and technology and showcase such projects to inspire excellence in concrete design and construction around the world.

The projects considered for the award integrate creative techniques and technologies in line with the ever-evolving economic, environmental and aesthetic demands.

QNL's 45,000-square-metre building was designed by the eminent architect, Rem Koolhaas.

The library features numerous custom-designed innovations that allow the building to adapt to the evolving needs of its visitors.

The library serves as a steward of Qatar’s national heritage by collecting, preserving and making available the country’s recorded history.
