Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Qatar National Library (QNL) have signed an agreement (MoU) promoting knowledge and learning in Qatar through cultural exchanges, events, and community development.
As part of the MoU, the two institutions plan to cooperate in various areas. This includes providing educational and research materials, conducting exchanges of knowledge and culture, and participating in events. Together, the Library and HMC will continue to work on areas of mutual interest, including scientific, technical, and cultural collaborations.
Executive Director at QNL, Tan Huism and HMC's Deputy Chief Quality Officer for the Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement (CPESE), and Director of the Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute, Nasser Al Naimi signed the MoU.
Among those attending the signing ceremony were Ali Abdullah Al Khater, Chief Communication Officer, Dr. Hanadi Khamis Al Hamad, Medical Director at Rumailah Hospital, and Chairperson of the Geriatrics and Long-Term Care Department at QRI, and Nayef Al Shamari, Executive Director of the Media Department at HMC.
Moreover, Lolwa Al-Naemi, Director of Strategic Planning and Projects, and Abeer Saad Al Kuwari, Director of Research and Learning Services, at QNL attended.
During the event, Tan said, “We are very pleased to sign this MoU, which will strengthen the cooperation between the Library and HMC. The Library seeks partnerships and collaborations which enhance what we offer to our community, and this collaboration will provide our members with additional educational materials and programs.”
“The agreement is an example of the Library’s contribution to the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to establish a knowledge-based economy and make lasting contributions to the holistic development of the community in Qatar,” she added.
Al Naimi said: “The partnership with QNL reinforces HMC’s holistic approach to delivering person-centered care by giving patients, families, and staff a form of recreation to reduce stress while inside the hospital through its Patient Library program initiated by the Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement,”.
“Our long-term plan is to expand the number of libraries we have across all HMC facilities. Currently, the Patient Library is available at the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute, Ambulatory Care Center, and Enaya Specialized Care Center. We thank QNL for their support of this aim and we look forward to helping enrich the lives of our patients, families, and staff,” he added.
Continuing to explore regional and international collaborations is an essential part of QNL's role in sharing the cultural heritage of the Arab world and enabling the public to access information and education on a variety of topics.
In Qatar, HMC is the leading secondary and tertiary healthcare provider and one of the leaders in the region. It is committed to building a legacy of healthcare expertise in Qatar by developing the region's first academic health system - combining top-of-the-line research, education, and clinical care.
