Qatar yesterday joined the ninth session of the Arab-Chinese Forum at the ministerial level, held via video conferencing.

Qatar's delegation was chaired by His Excellency Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The session shined a spotlight on the strength of the relations between Arab countries and China and emphasized the importance of further enhancing cooperation.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan Ayman Safadi and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi co-chaired the meeting virtually.

During the meeting, Qatar underlined the strong Arab-Chinese cooperation stating that it is based on common interests, a long history, and convergent views on several global issues.

Qatar also called for enhancing cooperation and collective efforts between the two sides through strengthening joint institutions and projects.

“The transformations and challenges that the world is going through oblige us to work together toward rearranging international relations according to a vision based on co-operation, solidarity, and coexistence among all peoples because peace is what will lead to a bright future in the world and its stability and development," Qatar said.

Qatar drew attention to the Palestinian cause affirming that it remains at the top of the list of the joint agenda between the Arab world and China. 

Qatar acknowledged China's efforts to advocate for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The international community must fulfill its responsibilities to reaching a just solution for the key issue of the region.

Qatar also highlighted the crisis and challenges in Syria, Libya, and Yemen calling on the international community to combine efforts to find comprehensive solutions to put an end to human suffering and to ensure stability.

Qatar hoped that the forum will accelerate the pace of sustainable development at the national level. This would be through efforts focused on advancing: the human element, build capacity, transfer expertise, technology, and capital, increase the volume of trade exchanges, and create economic investment opportunities without overlooking the cultural aspect.
