In another accomplishment for Qatar, the country has advanced on a global level and the Arab level in the area of youth development as reflected in the Youth Development Index 2020.
The Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Culture and Sports (MCS) announced yesterday that Qatar has been ranked second in the Arab world and 32nd globally on the Youth Development Index 2020.
The Commonwealth Association issues the Index after evaluating the status of young individuals in as many as 181 countries across the globe.

His Excellency Qatar’s Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali congratulated the youth in Qatar on this feat.
The Minister underlined that this progress is the result of the continuous efforts of the youth toward serving their society and their country. He also recognized the youth’s active involvement in the youth centers as well as sports clubs.
Qatar’s advancement in the Youth Development Index has been made possible with several strategic steps under the social youth movement.
These include the election of the Youth Advisory Committee for the Minister of Culture and Sports. The candidates for this committee were picked through elections that saw the participation of over 2000 young men and women.
In addition to the country’s global ranking, Qatar is now ranked at number 2 at the Arab level, just after Kuwait.
In the sub-indicators, Qatar is placed at number 11 in health and well-being, at number 19 in peace and security, at number 14 in employment and job opportunities, and at number 30 in equality and sports.
MCS is also working on Qatar’s first national youth policy that will serve as a reference document for youth endeavors in the country.
