The medical convoy, which is currently being implemented by the Qatar Red Crescent in the sisterly Sudan, in coordination with the Sudanese health authorities and in collaboration with the Hamad Medical Corporation, the Primary Health Care Corporation, and the Al-Basr International Charity Foundation, continues to treat eye diseases and combat blindness.

Through the two established El-Ayoun camps, medical examinations have been conducted for 7,720 patients out of a total target of 8,000 patients. Along with 246 surgeries out of the 800 targeted operations within the project plan, which also includes providing 2,500 eyeglasses free of charge for the most vulnerable patients. This is all through two eye treatment camps in Khartoum and Gezira under the supervision of the representative office of the Qatar Red Crescent. 

The free eyeglasses and medicines were distributed to patients ranging in age from one to 80 years. 111 cataract and blue water operations were performed in Makkah Eye Hospitals in Khartoum State and Dr. Madani in Al-Jazira State on the sixth and seventh days. Parallel to the medical activities, a delegation from the medical convoy and a team from the Sudan office visited Al-Awlid Charitable Specialized Eye Hospital in Omdurman, Khartoum State, to evaluate the hospital's needs, which provides medical services to vulnerable communities and serves patients from all over the world. In Darfur and Kordofan, the states, particularly the western regions, receive 700-800 patients every day, with 45 specialized doctors and 40 specialized representatives attending to them.

The Qatar Red Crescent Office organized a discussion session on the ophthalmology postgraduate curriculum in coordination with the Sudanese National Council for Medical Specialties, in the presence of a large number of doctors and representatives of ophthalmologists, including Dr. Allah Al-Fadl, an ophthalmologist at the Primary Health Care Corporation. A presentation of Hamad Medical Corporation's training methods and means was given during the workshop. 

The team also paid a visit to the National Cancer Institute at the University of Gezira, which is one of the state's cancer research and treatment institutes.
