Ever since the illegal blockade began more than two and a half years ago, Qatar has stressed the need for dialogue as the only way out of the crisis.
The country has repeatedly called for constructive and unconditional dialogue at several international, regional and local forums.
Despite much anticipation of a potential resolution, with Qatar’s involvement in the 40th GCC Summit in Riyadh, and the participation of the national teams of the blockading nations in the Arabian Gulf Cup held in Doha, the crisis remained very much in its place.
However, Qatar remains steadfast in pushing for a peaceful solution to end the illegal blockade.
At a regular meeting of the United Nations (UN) Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Her Excellency Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, highlighted yet again Qatar’s call for talks with the siege nations to settle the differences.
HE Sheikha Alya said the talks must be based on respect for the sovereignty of states and must adhere to United Nations Charter, international law and the principles of friendly relations between countries.
Qatar is keen to “defuse the crisis and achieve international peace and security,” she said.

The ambassador pointed out that while Qatar remains committed to international law, the siege nations have been violating it.
The illegal measures taken by the blockading nations affect regional and international stability, she underlined.
She further mentioned the “campaigns of misinformation and incitement that Qatar is exposed to by the blockading countries, which reflects the desperate and failed attempts by them to undermine the State.”
HE Sheikha Alya acknowledged the mediation efforts HH the Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah has undertaken toward regional stability and said Qatar is in full support of these endeavors.
