Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality announced that local agricultural produce markets have resumed operations, restoring residents’ access to fresh, high-quality Qatari farm products.

Al Mazrouah Market at Umm Salal Central Market will now operate daily from 7am to 3pm, the Ministry said. Markets in Al Wakrah, Al Khor, Al Thakhira, Al Sheehaniya, and Al Shamal will open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays during the same hours.

More than 100 Qatari farms are participating in these markets, offering a wide range of premium agricultural products. The initiative is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen and sustain local agricultural production while expanding opportunities for farm participation.

Officials noted that the programme is aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Food Security Strategy, which aim to promote sustainable agricultural and economic development. It also focuses on establishing direct marketing channels between farmers and consumers, cutting out intermediaries to secure fair returns for producers and provide consumers with fresh, reliable local produce.

Visitors to the markets can find a diverse selection of locally grown seasonal vegetables, natural honey, dates, and other farm products that change with the agricultural season.

The markets are equipped with shaded areas, public amenities, and organised parking to ensure a comfortable and safe shopping experience.

Specialised inspection teams are on site to monitor product quality and ensure compliance with approved standards, underscoring the Ministry’s commitment to supporting and empowering Qatari farmers, advancing food self-sufficiency, and supplying consumers with high-quality products at competitive prices.
