Qatari patrons opened their hearts and purses on Qatar National Day to aid the besieged city of Aleppo.

A donation programme, organised jointly by five Qatar-based charities, collected a total of QR290m over three days.

The booth, which was set up at the Darb El Saai grounds, was hugely popular and people came to donate in cash and kind. Some people gave away new cars and other vehicles, which were put up for sale and proceeds donated to charity.

The Organising Committee of Qatar National Day ran the donation campaign after HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani cancelled this year’s Qatar National Day events in solidarity with Aleppo.

Qatar Charity, Eid Charity, Qatar Red Crescent Society, Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) and Afif Charity took part in the drive.

Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to everyone for pitching in for the people of Aleppo.
