Qatar’s population has returned to an all-time high of 2.7 million, according to figures released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.

As of February 28, there were 2.7 million people in Qatar, indicating that the figures are in the same region as May 2017, when there were as many people in the country, according to Gulf Times.

The latest figure shows an increase of 2.2% compared to January, 2018 (2.64m) and 1% compared to February, 2017. Qatar currently has approximately 2,017,612 males and 682,778 females, reported Qatar Tribune.

The data represents the number of people of all ages (Qataris and non-Qataris) within the boundaries Qatar.

Usually the population shoots up every year between February 1 and May 31 but falls between June 1 and August 30.

This fall is mainly owing to the school vacation when a considerably large number of people are away from the country.
