Al Zubrah season begins in Qatar on September 20, bringing cooler nights

Qatar will enter Al Zubrah on September 20, 2026, marking a seasonal period associated with cooler nights, more frequent northerly winds and the gradual transition towards milder weather.

According to Qatar Meteorology, Al Zubrah lasts for 13 days and is considered the second of the traditional autumn seasonal periods.

It also marks the beginning of the Al Safri season.

What weather can Qatar expect?

During Al Zubrah, daytime temperatures generally remain hot, while nights begin to feel noticeably cooler.

The period is also characterised by an increase in northerly winds, while rainfall is considered relatively uncommon.

Qatar Meteorology also notes that this period coincides with the time of year when the length of day and night becomes approximately equal.

Agricultural significance

Al Zubrah also has traditional importance for agriculture.

The period is considered suitable for the continued planting of palm trees and cultivation of vegetables, similar to the preceding seasonal phase known as Al Jabha.

Among farmers, Al Zubrah is also traditionally referred to as “Al Khartan.”

The arrival of the 13-day period signals another gradual step in Qatar’s transition away from peak summer conditions.
