Qatar, Sao Tome and Principe have inked a joint communique to establish diplomatic relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced yesterday.
The signing ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in New York.
Her Excellency the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani signed the communique on Qatar’s behalf.
From Sao Tome and Principe’s side, Charge d'Affaires of the country’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Alcinio Cravid E Silva initialed the communique.

The two parties pledged to strengthen and develop bilateral cooperation and friendship across various fields including political, economic, commercial and cultural.
They also underlined the significance of establishing bilateral ties in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter.
The two sides further expressed their sureness that the establishment of their diplomatic relations will lead to strong bilateral joint work and strengthening world peace.
