Under the ambition to enhance air safety and raise the bar in civil aviation standards, Qatar has signed a pact with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

The agreement deals with the collection and exchange of information on civil aviation safety in line with the EU Ramp Inspection Program.

His Excellency the Chairman of Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Abdulla bin Nasser Turki Al Subaey and EASA Executive Director Patrick Ky initialed the agreement.

HE Qatar’s Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed Al Sulaiti witnessed the signing of the deal at the Ministry yesterday.

With this agreement, CAA has officially entered the EU Ramp Inspection Program.

This CAA-EASA understanding aims to boost cooperation between the two entities through the exchange of expertise and database. It will also pave the way for increased collaboration between CAA and other international organizations known for their extensive experience in aviation safety.

Qatar is a pioneer in civil aviation safety and the first to have scored 91.16 percent in the overall audit conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on all aspects of air safety in its civil aviation system,” MOTC said in a statement. The agreement will foster further growth in Qatar’s civil aviation industry.

HE the Minister held talks with Ky after the signing ceremony. The two top officials discussed ways of increasing cooperation between the two parties.

They also reviewed “latest developments relating to civil aviation safety in the region and best practices for maintaining environmental integrity,” the statement added.
