Tensions and fighting have erupted on the border regions of India and Pakistan, causing great concern for people in both countries.

The situation is the same for the tens of thousands of Indians and Pakistanis living in Qatar. Yesterday, Pakistan closed its airspace, and Qatar Airways announced it was cancelling all flights to the country.

And now, Qatar has voiced its grave concern over the situation and announced that it was closely monitoring the developments. It also called on all parties to exercise restraint and to give voice to wisdom, according to a statement on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) website.

MOFA welcomed the calls made by officials in both countries and stressed that they did not want further escalation.

The statement also called for efforts to resolve the existing dispute through diplomatic and political channels and non-escalation, reported Gulf Times.

“Both countries have great weight and influence in their surroundings. Therefore, the State of Qatar wishes the governments of the two countries to shoulder their responsibility as great powers to safeguard regional and international peace and security and the interests of both peoples,” said the statement.
