QatarEnergy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to enhance bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, with a strategic focus on the long-term supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Egypt.

The agreement was signed in Doha by His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, and Karim Badawi, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, during a ceremony held at QatarEnergy’s headquarters.

Commenting on the agreement, Minister Al-Kaabi highlighted that the MoU builds on the recent successful LNG cooperation between the two countries and reflects a shared commitment to meeting Egypt’s growing energy needs. He noted that the partnership aims to support Egypt’s expanding economic and industrial development through reliable, long-term LNG supplies.

The MoU establishes a framework for continued collaboration, including the long-term delivery of LNG from QatarEnergy to Egypt. As part of this cooperation, QatarEnergy and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) have agreed on the supply of up to 24 LNG cargoes during the summer of 2026, while also initiating discussions on additional long-term LNG supply arrangements.

This agreement further strengthens QatarEnergy’s role as a key global LNG supplier and reinforces energy ties between Qatar and Egypt.
