Qatar Post has introduced Sandooqi, a smart parcel box designed to allow residents and businesses to receive deliveries securely even when they are not at the address.
The box is installed directly at an eligible home or business and can be accessed by delivery drivers using a secure one-time code.
Once a parcel has been deposited, the customer receives an instant notification and can collect the delivery whenever convenient.
How does Sandooqi work?
Customers generate a unique PIN through the Sandooqi app and share it with their chosen delivery agent.
When the courier arrives, they scan the QR code on the box and use the authorised PIN to open it.
The parcel is placed inside and the box is secured, after which the customer receives a WhatsApp or SMS notification confirming the delivery.
The customer can then retrieve the parcel at any time.
No electricity, Wi-Fi or keys required
Qatar Post says Sandooqi is designed to operate without keys, an electricity connection or internet access.
Among its main features are:
- 24/7 parcel receiving
- Instant delivery notifications
- One-time secure access for each delivery
- Installation at the customer's address
- No keys required
- No electricity or internet connection required
- Options for eligible homes and businesses
The service can also be used by different delivery providers rather than being limited only to Qatar Post deliveries.
Three Sandooqi models available
Qatar Post currently lists three versions of the smart box:
Sandooqi Flex: A wall-mounted box designed for villas and standalone homes.
Sandooqi Nest: A built-in box integrated into an exterior wall or gate, allowing a more seamless architectural installation.
Sandooqi Stand: A freestanding outdoor model suited to driveways, villas and residential entrances.
Qatar Post's online subscription portal currently displays each box at QAR 499.
The portal notes that installation, where selected, is scheduled within approximately three to five business days.
Customers should check the final price shown during registration, as PO Box or subscription-related charges may also apply depending on the selected service.
Wider rollout planned across Qatar
The service forms part of Qatar Post's wider push towards smarter and more flexible parcel delivery.
A government procurement notice published in October outlines plans for the installation of up to 10,000 Sandooqi units at residential properties across Qatar under a three-year programme.
The rollout includes site preparation, installation, testing, activation of smart locks and final customer handover.
