Qatari-owned Claridge’s ranks No.13 among World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026

London’s iconic Claridge’s hotel has been ranked No.13 in The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026, placing the Qatari-owned property among the top 15 hotels globally.

The Mayfair hotel has also improved its position from No.16 in the 2025 ranking, climbing three places this year. The official profile published by The 50 confirms Claridge’s at No.13 for 2026 and No.16 in 2025.

Maybourne, which operates Claridge’s, similarly lists the property as the 13th-best hotel in the world for 2026.

A Qatari-owned London landmark

Claridge’s forms part of the Maybourne luxury hospitality portfolio and has longstanding links to Qatari investors.

Following a restructuring of Maybourne’s ownership in 2026, Regis Maybourne (UK) became the owner of Claridge’s and the Maybourne operating business, while the underlying hotel portfolio was divided between two Qatari ownership groups.

Claridge’s therefore remains an important part of Qatar-linked luxury hospitality investment in London.

More than 200 years of history

Claridge’s traces its roots back to 1812, when James Mivart established a hotel on Brook Street. William and Marianne Claridge later expanded the property, which officially became Claridge’s in 1856. maybourne.com

Today, the hotel is known for its Art Deco interiors, luxury suites and longstanding association with royalty, political figures and celebrities.

Major transformation of the hotel

Claridge’s underwent an extensive renovation and expansion lasting several years.

Its redevelopment included a 7,000 sq ft spa, a 25-metre swimming pool, additional event spaces and expanded wellness facilities, much of it created below the existing hotel to preserve its historic exterior.

The property currently has 269 rooms according to The 50’s hotel profile.
