In a bid to enhance the quality of pre-university education in Qatar, the country’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) and Qatar Foundation (QF) have inked a deal to work collaboratively on this front.

Vice-Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, Her Excellency Sheikha Hind Bint Hamad Al Thani and Minister of Education and Higher Education, His Excellency Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at QF Headquarters in Education City reflecting the commitment of both organizations to work in unison on taking the country’s existing pre-university educational services to new heights, reported the Gulf Times.

The agreement is aimed at not only improving and elevating outcomes and performances at pre-university level but also at raising the country’s ranking in the global education arena.

Through this partnership, the two organizations will drive efforts in domains such as early education and specialized education provision, skills development of individuals working in the education sector, and curriculum and education policy development, according to Qatar Tribune.

Additionally the collaboration will see a number of activities and events taking place in the near future specifically focusing on enriching the educational experiences of students at pre-university level and encouraging increased student innovation.

President of Pre-University Education at QF, Buthaina Ali Al Nuaimi commented on the occasion, “Innovation and collaboration are two cornerstones of world-class education, and two areas which have defined the way QF’s educational ecosystem has been built and advanced.”

“We are therefore delighted and honoured that our expertise in this field is being combined with that of the MoEHE through a partnership that will enhance our already close and impactful relationship for the overall benefit of students, educators and schools across Qatar. We are confident that it will pave the way for Qatar’s education sector to achieve new levels of excellence,” she noted.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry, Fawzia Abdulaziz al Khater also shared her delight at the signing of the MoU, commending QF’s role in developing education across all levels.

“This memorandum is qualitative in nature, in that it fosters the rich and diverse institutional expertise in our schools, specifically our classrooms. It also supports the education system in general through new programmes in multidisciplinary fields, which help improve our educational outcomes and teach our students 21st century skills,” said Khater.

The agreement will advance several different areas of pre-university education comprising early education, education offered to children with special needs, developing the skills of academic providers, the offerings of educational institutions and curriculums, expanding educational experiences for students and developing research policies, among others.

The partnership is expected to create a positive impact on students and the overall education system by developing and enhancing the quality of services, while ensuring sustainable progress of the quality of education locally and internationally.
