The President of the Qatar Football Association has stressed the importance of consultation, mutual respect and sound institutional governance in maintaining the strength and cohesion of Asian football.

In a statement addressing QFA's recent correspondence with the Asian Football Confederation, the association said the issue centres on the mechanisms used when collective positions are formulated on behalf of AFC member associations.

QFA clarified that the matter is not related to particular individuals or whether member associations agree or disagree with the substance of a specific position. Instead, it highlighted the importance of ensuring that member associations are involved and given an appropriate opportunity to express their views whenever collective positions are taken in the name of Asian football.

The association said it was raising the matter in a constructive and fraternal spirit and within the framework of its respect for the AFC and its leadership.

QFA added that its position reflects a shared interest in strengthening governance and reinforcing unity and credibility across Asian football.
