Qatar Foundation’s Doha Debates’ #DearWorldLive program will be highlighting racial inequality around the world, premiering this week with an interactive episode revolving around racism in America amid the Black Lives Matter movement, nearly two weeks before the US presidential election.
Hosted by award-winning journalist Nelufar Hedayat, #DearWorldLive is a lively, candid, and engaging weekly online program with guest newsmakers, student participation, and viewer comments and questions from around the world.
The show on Wednesday, October 21 will feature Marc Lamont Hill, an activist, author, and Professor of Media Studies and Urban Education at Temple University in Philadelphia, US; Mikki Kendall, activist and author of Hood Feminism, which makes the case for Black women ignored by the feminist movement; and Vikiana Petit-Homme, a Boston college student who became a national inspiration for her work in organizing thousands of teenagers to participate in gun reform efforts, including March for Our Lives, and who works to lower America’s voting age.
“With the Black Lives Matter movement in the US resonating among people around the world, it's clear that racial injustice is pervasive and problematic on a global scale.”, said Amjad Atallah, Doha Debates’ managing director.
“Now is an ideal time for #DearWorldLive to devote a series of thoughtful, engaging programs to the question of how we can overcome racism. We look forward to what surely will be a compelling and solutions-focused season two with more amazing guests on #DearWorldLive.”

The program will be live-streamed on YouTube, Facebook and Doha Debates at 5 pm Doha time, Wednesday. One can participate and also be featured by submitting comments and questions with the hashtag #DearWorldLive.
Environmental injustice, art as protest, how to be an ally, and healthcare challenges are issues that will be focused on in the upcoming episodes of #DearWorldLive.
