1. The Saturdaze Brunch at W Doha

For my pick of the week I want to revisit the Saturdaze Brunch at W Doha. Located on the second floor of the funky hotel, this brunch features a great array of different stations including grills and seafood. Aside from the scrumptious food the vibe and atmosphere is terrific.

You can sit by the open terrace while listening to your all-time favorites to the DJ’s beats till late afternoon. Unlike most brunches, the Saturdaze takes place every Saturday from 12:00 noon till 4:00 p.m. The price is less expensive than other brunches in town. For QR 275 you can enjoy an amazing Saturday afternoon, especially now that the weather is so refreshing. For more information you can call 4453-5135.

2. Money Heist (or La Casa de Papel)

It's not stealing if you print your own money right? So I just finished watching this amazing Spanish heist show on Netflix and it is easily the best crime series I have watched in years. It was only two seasons so that's just 3-4 days of binge-watching. I am not even going into the plot because I hate spoilers, but I can assure you that it is captivating.

My favorite characters were The Professor and the leader of the heist, Berlin. The Professor's attention for detail is just unbelievable and Berlin, well, he is just a brutal psychopath who makes the heist all the more entertaining.

I highly recommend this if you enjoy meticulous crime scenarios. The possibilities for a heist failing are endless, but you should always trust The Professor. Watch the show in Spanish with subtitles if needed because the English dub version does not do justice to the actors.

IMDB rating: 8.8
Rotten Tomatoes: 89%

3. WrestleMania 34 (streaming on the WWE Network)

Was there really anything else I could possibly pick this week? WrestleMania is the most important event on the wrestling calendar, and this year's event had a host of interesting plot points to keep everyone entertained. There was the epic return of Daniel Bryan after injury kept him out for 3 years. There was the debut of Ronda Rousey. There was Brock Lesnar's final match before returning to UFC. And of course, there was my personal highlight of WWE champion: AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in the match people called a "Dream Match"...wow. The event ran for 5 hours, and I caught it live on the WWE Network, 2:00 am Monday morning, though you can now stream it on demand. Expect some surprises, and plenty of memorable moments! I headed over to to watch it with the fans in Qatar at VOX cinemas at Doha Festival City in the a.m., and it was quite the experience!

4. EXMILITARY (2011)

I felt venom coursing through my veins when I first listened to Exmilitary - the debut mixtape of Sacramento-based industrial hip-hop group Death Grips - way back in 2011. Seven years later and the album has lost none of it’s power. The first track “Beware” serves as the mission statement of the band and sets the tone for everything that they would release over the next few years.

Exmilitary is many things: 13 revolutionary tracks of experimental noise punk, one of the rawest pieces of art produced in any medium during this decade, a modern manifesto for urban survival, our collective id distilled into pure sonic form. But for me, Exmilitary was and remains this:

A definitive soundtrack for living in a rudderless world that is helplessly careening down the void of post-poststructuralism.

I’m going to listen to this album on repeat while waiting for “Year of the Snitch” to drop. Do whatever you want.

5. Mind Field by Vsauce

This week I’m recommending one of my favorite YouTubers of all time, Michael Stevens, aka Vsauce.

He has been around YouTube for quite some time now. And he seems to never run out of great content.

Although his latest series ‘Mind Field’ is in YouTube red - which means you have to pay to watch - his previous videos are available for free on his page.

Just go through his channel and you’ll watch him answer mind blowing questions in a style that is quirky and quintessentially him.

There you get answers to questions like who owns the moon? Or when will we run out of names?

I would definitely suggest you give his channel a quick tour, but make sure you have free time when you browse, because you'll definitely get sucked into a Vsauce-video binge.

6. One Punch Man (now on Netflix)

One Punch Man is on Netflix and it’s a really good show to watch for your downtime, if you need a good laugh, or you’re just bored and in need of something to stimulate your brain cells in a non-stressful manner. To all the Otakus out there who’re looking for something funny, lighthearted and packed with action, this would be a good show for you!

7. Tomb Raider (2018)

While this isn't my favourite film to come out of the famous gaming franchise, I did enjoy it nevertheless. I'm not much of a gamer (at all), but I've always loved playing these games.

Watch the film for its action and grittiness. It has a lot more of a realistic take on the physical and mental trauma that Lara goes through during her adventures than the previous two films. While Angelina Jolie is a spectacular Lara Croft, Alicia Vikander is perfect for the role in this coming-of-age action-adventure.

I do think the characters could have used more development, it did feel a little formulaic, but an entertaining watch all the same.
