1. Isaan restaurant at the Grand Hyatt Doha

One of my ultimate favourite hotels in Doha is the Grand Hyatt. Formerly know as the most majestic, but boring hotel in town (like 4 years ago), the hotel is one of the best places to go in the city now, since the current GM and Marketing team took over. Whether you want to dance all night long or experience a great culinary journey, the Grand Hyatt has it all.

For my pick this week I want to talk about one of its restaurants, Isaan. There are not many Thai restaurants in the country, but one of the best by far is Isaan. They serve authentic Thai cuisine, in the vibrant setting of an open-plan kitchen. The food is fantastic, full of flavours and cooked to perfection. I would recommend trying the Papaya Salad, Shrimp Cake, Spring Rolls, Kaeng Karee Goong, Tom Yum Soup, Whole Sea Bass and the Chicken Phad Thai. All the staff are from Thailand, which makes the entire experience even more authentic. The prices are more than reasonable, especially taking into consideration the extraordinary quality of its dishes, the great service and decor. If you haven't been to Isaan yet, then you haven't had tried the best Thai food in Qatar.

2. FIA World Touring Car Championship 2017

I'm recommending an event for the petrol heads this week. The FIA World Touring Car Championship is back in Qatar at Losail International Circuit for another set of spectacular races under the floodlights on 30th November and 1st December.

The races will be a nail-biting affair as the championship title will be decided at Losail on Friday night. I'm definitely going to be there for the special moment when Thed Björk lifts the title. That's not even the best part!

The entrance to the grandstand and paddock is going to be FREE for the 2-day event so come live all the excitment of the championship at the circuit!

And now for the best part. There will be a new food court at the paddock area this year featuring food stalls from Shake Shack, Nando’s, Popcorn Girl, Amazing Waffles, and Camel Cookies in addition to the circuit restaurant and cafeteria.

3. The Chemist Café at B.Square Mall

Ok I'll admit it. I just can't quit coffee. Then again, why would I want to? I have at least cut down on the number of cups I have per day. This of course helps me to leave room for drinking more from unique coffee shops such as The Chemist Café. They invited the QL team to visit last week and totally blew our minds! Not only are they passionate about coffee, they are passionate about the way they present it too. From their specialist coffees (I can still smell that blueberry and toffee aroma) to their "Sweet & Happy" Hormones desserts, the guys and girls at Chemist Café are original in taste and concept. Using the finest equipment and smartest of sciences, it's worth visiting over and over again. If you prefer just a normal cuppa joe, don't worry, they do that too...but who wants to be normal at The Chemist Café? Beware of imitators, Chemist Café at B.Square mall is the original and the best.

4. SHE AND HER CAT (1999)

“I don't understand why you cried. I can't even say, "You'll be all right." But I will always be by your side. After all, I am your cat.”

She and Her Cat (1999) is a short film about the relationship between a young woman and her cat told entirely from the cat’s perspective. Animated entirely in black and white, the cat recounts his life with the girl, her heartbreak and loneliness, and his attempts to comfort her. Written and animated solely by one person - director Makoto Shinkai - this emotionally resonant exercise in dramatic and structural minimalism remains one of the best examples of independent digital animation from Japan.

Watch it on a rainy day.

5. Al Samariyah Farm

While shooting the first episode of ‘Exploring Qatar’, we went to a farm right next to the Sheikh Faisal Museum, on the way to Dukhan. We were given some information about what to expect. It’s a farm that has different animals like horses, oryxes, and peacocks.

But when we actually reached the place, I was stunned. I have lived my whole life in Qatar, and never have I seen a place that looks similar to that. It was green everywhere, which really made me feel like I had travelled to another country; despite it being only a 15-minute drive from Qatar Foundation.

There were also vast patches of land where they grow tomatoes and other vegetables. The farm even has roads lined with trees that had their branches arched across the other side, reminiscent of the ones we usually see in movies.

Animals are free to roam around the farm, and they even have an equestrian center, where you can try horseback riding, through beautiful scenery.

The first episode of Exploring Qatar is premiering in December, so keep a lookout.

6. Terraria

Terraria is a 2D sandbox side-scroller video game created by Re-Logic build for all ages. The visuals are quite retro 16 bit graphics, and the gameplay can go from crafting, building, combat, and exploration in 10 seconds depending on what you feel like doing. To really play the game though you have to find a good balance in your gameplay, you can legitimately craft some wings, fly, and see what’s out there in your 2D world.

7. Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks is a 90's cult classic for good reason. This thriller-mystery-drama TV series has David Lynch written all over it, with an eeriness that is unforgettable, and pretty much set the trend for similar creepy rural-suburban series that came in its wake.

The show follows a young FBI agent's investigation of the murder of local homecoming queen in the unusual, but at first seemingly unremarkable, town of Twin Peaks. Supernatural twists await.

The show was renewed, with much hype, this year as a limited series called Twin Peaks: The Return, with many of the old familiar characters. Highly recommend it!
