Qatar has been having foggy and dusty weather conditions for more than a week now and there is a high probability that this trend is expected to continue this week as well. Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has predicted that winds might turn to Southwesterly starting from today till tomorrow, i.e. March 8. These winds could be strong gusts of wind amounting to 23 KT. KT stands for knots, which is a standard measure for wind, in meteorological terms.
QMD took to their Twitter and posted the weather update yesterday forecasting that the turn from northwesterly to southwesterly winds might mean Qatar will witness a dust mass. This will eventually reduce the horizontal visibility to less than 2 km at most places and even zero in some places. The wind is again expected to return to northwesterly from the morning of March 8 till late evening March 9.

This period is also anticipated to witness cloud formation in the country, and there is a potential for light rain at the end of this week. The resultant rainfall in this period is called pre-Sarayat, meaning fast clouds might form over small areas to spread scattered rain.
The weather is also likely to turn warmer with the ushering in of Southwesterly winds and the higher temperature ranges might be potentially between 32–28 degrees Celsius in certain areas.
So far, Qatar Meteorology Department has also projected weather conditions for today, March 7 in another tweet. The sea state is expected to rise 1–3 foot inshore and 2–4, or even 6 foot offshore. Weather conditions might be foggy and dusty during the day, however the night is expected to be relatively colder.
