QNRF has launched the second cycle of its ‘Rapid Response Call: Combating COVID-19', which was launched last year to demonstrate how impactful and innovative research projects may assist institutions and policymakers in Qatar respond effectively to abrupt and emergent circumstances like COVID-19.
“In designing the second cycle of the Rapid Response Call, we have employed a renewed approach by introducing focused research areas, defining new eligibility criteria, and devising a more optimized timeframe covering all the stages from launch of the cycle to awards announcement and delivery of the results,” said Dr. Abdul Sattar Al Taie, Executive Director, QNRF.
Dr. Al Taie explained that 20 projects were selected for funding after a competitive review process during the first cycle, all of which have been a success in different fields.
Moreover, the second cycle will researchers six months to complete their projects with aim of providing sufficient time to formulate evidence-backed effective policies and innovative solutions.
Much like last year, the review process will be on a fast-track basis to ensure that the selected researchers may begin working on their projects as soon as possible.
Dr. Al Taie stated that QNRF’s IT channel will be open to receive applications starting from July 1, with August 10 being the last day for research proposal submissions.
Furthermore, the awarded projects will be announced in early October to allow researchers to start working in the same month.
