Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has delivered food aid to more than 42,000 refugees in Bangladesh under its Warm Winter 2021 project.

The project is being run in conjunction with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS).

The Warm Winter 2021 project seeks to alleviate the suffering of refugees from Myanmar by addressing their food needs during the winter season.

In a statement, QRCS highlighted that the first phase of the project has been completed. During this phase, as many as 8,150 families (42,550 people) were given parcels containing local food staples - such as sugar, salt, vegetable oil, chickpeas, lentils and spices.

The next phase of the project will see the distribution of non-food winterization kits. Each kit would include a jacket, cotton clothes, winter shoes, socks, hat, scarf, gloves and blanket.

Following the theme of the project ‘Dignity is Priceless,’ QRCS aims to continue its endeavors to ensure warmth for, and protect the dignity of, 45,270 families (272,880 beneficiaries) in 15 countries.

These include: Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Gaza, Jerusalem and the West Bank, Bangladesh, Sudan, Somalia, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Kyrgyzstan.
