Qatar will soon witness another stunning attraction to complement its existing gorgeous beaches.

The Ras Bu Abboud beach is being prepared to become one of the country’s top leisure and tourist destinations.

Ashghal announced yesterday that it has begun implementing the first package of the Ras Bu Abboud Beach Development Project.

The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar is spearheading the project, which will cover an area of 260,000 square meters and a length of 2.2 kilometers.

While the beach will be a joy to residents, citizens in the area as well as around Qatar, it will also be a major attraction for visitors to the country.

The project’s first package is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2020.

Design Manager of the Project at the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar at Ashghal, Engineer Jazmine Al-Sheikh said that Ras Bu Abboud beach development project aims to turn the beach into a tourist and family destination.

The Ashghal official explained that the beach is being developed to let people enjoy various recreational activities such as swimming and other sports activities in addition to just unwinding at the leisure spot.

As the construction works begin, the beach will see dedicated pedestrian, cycling, and biking tracks to let beach-goers exercise, jog or cycle.

Complementing Qatar’s focus on increasing green spaces for beautification and environment-preservation, the project comprises 11.5 thousand square meters of landscaping.  About 500 trees will be seen around the beach, once completed.

Additionally, the project features buildings and service booths across four different areas. It will also have a number of restaurants and cafes and other services such as Wi-Fi to make the experience of visitors memorable.

Seating areas, umbrellas and beach showers will be among some of the things on offer to beach-goers.

To enhance safety on the beach and enable its users to benefit from it at night, a distinctive and high-tech lighting network will be implemented, including surveillance cameras and Wi-Fi devices, Ashghal stated. 

There will also be ample parking space with dedicated spots for those with special needs.

Infrastructure works under the project will include the construction of drinking water, irrigation and electricity networks, surveillance cameras and a network to provide Wi-Fi service.
