The Qatar National Day (QND) celebrations at the Darb Al Saai ground received a touch of royalty yesterday when several members of Qatar’s ruling family joined in on the fun.
HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, vice chairperson and chief executive officer of Qatar Foundation (QF), and HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, chairman of Qatar Leadership Academy (QLA), joined more than 1,500 students and their parents as part of the celebrations, reported Gulf Times.
The celebration included a specially produced National Day operetta featuring the voices and talents of over 500 students as well as a variety of local heritage activities, reported Qatar Tribune.
“The performances gave our youngest citizens the opportunity to celebrate local traditions, values and culture. The event also served as a platform for our students to show their love for this great and wonderful country,” said Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education (PUE) President Buthaina A Al Nuaimi.
The programme was developed and organised by the PUE National Day Event Committee.
