Shop Qatar 2018, which officially kicked off on January 7 and will run until February 7, has been designed to showcase Qatar’s vibrant retail sector.
But if you though the event was only about shopping, then a glance at its packed ‘International Week’ calendar will be enough to help change your mind. It is choke filled with events ranging from music concerts to fashion shows to make up masterclasses.
Here is a look at what is on offer until Saturday, January 27.
January 22, Monday
Two pop-up shops with people specialising in unique skills will function at the Gulf Mall and the Tawar Mall. While the former will host a pop-up shop featuring Russian doll making, the latter will have one that has specialist wood carvers. Both events run from 7 to 10pm.
January 23, Tuesday
On Tuesday, you will be able to be a part of the DHFC Box Park Concept at the Doha Festival City. It is a specialist shopping experience consisting of several pop-up stores housed in wooden boxes (1 to 9pm). There will also be a basket-weaving pop-up concept at the City Centre Mall (4 to 10pm).
January 24, Wednesday
While there will be an international fashion show at the Mondrian Hotel (7pm), the Doha Festival City will host walk-in wardrobe and beauty lounges (3 to 10pm).
January 25, Thursday
The winners of the third raffle draw of Shop Qatar 2018 will be picked at the Tawar Mall at 7.30pm. Simultaneously, there will be a live concert featuring The Chainsmokers, an American DJ/production duo consisting of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart. It will be held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre and will kick off at 7.30.
January 26, Friday
Lagoona Mall will host an exclusive show titled ‘Fashion Through History.’ It will run thrice (4p, 7pm and 9pm). A Russian Ribbon Embroidery pop-up shop will function at the Gulf Mall from 4 to 10pm. The Gulf Mall will also host a Filipino Parade at 8.30pm.
January 27, Saturday
Joyce Bonelli will host a Make Up Masterclass at the Al Mukhtasaar Ballroom at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. The class will run between 2pm and 6pm. One will have to register for the class.
