Those who have passed through the Hamad International Airport (HIA) should have seen and taken a photo with the big yellow teddy bear at least once.

The iconic structure, which is now very synonymous around the world, will soon be joined by another equally impressive statue named Small Lies, reported The Peninsula.   

Visitors travelling from Qatar will soon be able to see the ‘Small Lie’ installation by American pop artist and designer KAWS.    

HE Sheikha Al Mayassa Al Thani, Chairperson of the Qatar Museums, and KAWS shared on their Instagram pages the photos and videos of the various stages of 32-feet-tall Pinocchio-esque frame being installed at the Concourse E section of the Departure hall.

Sheikha Al Mayassa shared the video of the installation in progress of Small Lie, which measures 1000 x 464 x 427cm in dimensions. In effect, it is much bigger and more imposing that the Lamp Bear.

The Small Lie will join Urs Fischer’s Lamp Bear, a series of Oryx sculptures by Dutch artist Tom Claassen and installations titled Playground by American artist Tom Otterness, among others. 

Other featured international artists include Adel Abdessemed, Dia Azzawi, Ahmed Al Bahrani, Maurizio Cattelan, Don Gummer, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Jenny Holzer, Marc Quinn, Anselm Reyle, Rudolf Stingel and Bill Viola.
