For many children and teenagers, summer presents an opportunity to immerse themselves in some fun-filled activities and new experiences.

While this year's summer arrived amid unprecedented times in light of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, different organizations in Qatar have put together summer camps and programs that children can enjoy from the comfort of their homes.

The camps cover a host of activities that will let participants pick on new skills, enhance their understanding of new topics, and just be part of something engaging.

Below are some camps being offered this summer:

Tarsheed Summer Camp

Like the last two year's Tarsheed has once again developed an interesting summer camp for children aged 7 to 14 years.

Titled 'The Pulse of Qatar is Our Goal,' the virtual summer camp aims to raise awareness about energy rationalization culture and to achieve the goals in reducing electricity and water consumption and harmful carbon emissions.

The ultimate goal is to enhance the understanding of ensuring energy efficiency and preserving the environment in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, in addition to introducing sustainable development goals.

Those who wish to enroll can complete the registration process here, and view the activities on offer.

The camp will run until July 23.

Qatar Foundation PUE Summer Camp

Qatar Foundation's Pre-University Education (PUE) has taken its summer camp, Mukhayamna, online this year considering the COVID-19 situation.

While restrictions are being eased, PUE will go ahead with the digital platform and create a safe, happy, and secure space for the camp participants, according to a top PUE official.

This summer camp will feature a series of fun and exciting educational activities for schoolchildren of all ages.

Language lessons, Model United Nations activities, musical theatre classes, as well as design, creative writing, technology, STEM, sports, and arts sessions will be among some of the different areas covered during the camp.

The camp will kick off on July 5 and continue until July 30. For more information, click here.

The activities will be broadcasted through the STEAM educational system, which aims to integrate basic teaching materials constructively in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

The program will cover different scientific concepts, comprising the concepts of buoyancy, solubility, surface tension, density, and mass concerning science.

Moreover, arduino concepts in relation to technology will also be covered.

In the field of arts, participants will focus on the method and consistency of manual work and design, while the focus in the field of mathematics will be on measurements and mass calculations.

According to the Director of the STEAM Activities at QSC, the club has prepared a scientific bag with all the materials and equipment that participants will need for the program, which will be delivered to them by the safe methods as recommended by the Ministry of Public Health.

The program will take place from July 5 to July 15.

Doha Film Institute

Youth aged 8 to 17 years of age can become a part of some exciting workshops that the Doha Film Institute is offering this summer.

The Shafallah Centre for Persons with Disabilities, affiliated with Qatar Foundation for Social Work, is offering an online summer program for persons with disabilities in Qatar.

The program, which will run under the slogan 'Our Summer is Safe at Home,' will kick off on July 1.

The program seeks to raise the level of societal awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities and their right to participate in summer activities. Through a number of targeted activities, the program will allow participants to acquire new skills.

Participants will be divided into different age and diagnostic groups for their benefit and to develop their capabilities within an open environment.
