The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2021 will be an opportunity to boost Qatar-Russia cooperation, Her Excellency the Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah Al Khater said.
HE the Assistant Foreign Minister mentioned this during her interview with Russian news agency Sputnik. She said she joins the Forum this year as the Executive Director of the Doha Forum, which is an open platform for dialogue between world leaders, journalists, experts and academics.
She further mentioned that this is the first time the Doha Forum goes to Russia with an ambition to strengthen ties with the Russian Federation.
HE Al Khater mentioned that HE Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani will take part in an open interview titled "West Asia and North Africa: Steps Towards Stability and Prosperity" at SPIEF 2021.
She also noted that His Excellency will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, to build on discussions related to bilateral relations and the region's issues.

This will be in addition to the FM’s meetings with several Russian businessmen to discuss the opportunities for investment and joint cooperation.
Earlier, Qatar News Agency confirmed His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani's participation in SPIEF 2021.
The prestigious global forum will be held from June 2 to 5. HH The Amir will deliver a speech in the main session via videoconferencing on June 4.
Qatar will become the guest nation at SPIEF 2021, which is set to convene leading Russian and international companies, political figures and business leaders from around the world, and will be held under the patronage of the Russian President.
Qatar’s participation at the high-level forum will cement its business and economic ties with Russia, with a plethora of new partnership agreements expected to be finalized between the two countries.
Within the framework of the SPIEF business program, discussions will be held on the industrial, economic, investment, technological, educational, cultural and sports potential of the State of Qatar.
The SPIEF exhibition program will be enhanced by the Qatar Pavilion, representing multiple Qatari entities and hosting bilateral meetings, debates, and round tables on Qatar's bilateral engagement with Russia and other countries.
An extensive program of Qatari cultural events has also been prepared. It will be held within the framework of the Forum at various venues around St. Petersburg. Residents and guests of St. Petersburg may also attend the events of this cultural program.
