A secondary school student was taken into custody by Criminal Investigation Department officers after he was found dealing marijuana to his schoolmates.

According to some students of the popular Indian school, the 'dealer' was apprehended last Wednesday after some students complained to the authorities at the school. The headmaster then informed the police and apprehended the student.

His parents were informed immediately and were present on campus when their ward was taken off the school premises by the CID. Two other students, who were apparently seen exchanging 'something' in the washroom with the dealer, were also questioned by authorities.

A student has confirmed that the 'dealer' did not attend classes next day. However, it is still unclear whether the student will be suspended.

A campaign by Qatar's Supreme Education Council to stop vendors from selling cigarettes is ongoing. A ban is currently in place that stops supermarkets and groceries from selling cigarettes if they are within a one kilometre radius from a school.
