Ahmed Sobhi Salem Jundia, 19 years old, had lost his father when he was only seven; however, this did not stop him from continuing to improve and achieve his dream, to become a football player. 

The death of his father was a very tough moment in his life and made it difficult to continue practicing. Also, especially since joining sports clubs required expenses, which the family could not cover.

Ahmed’s mother was struggling to provide for him as well as his five brothers. However, after the sponsoring by Qatar Charity office in Gaza Strip, with 12,000 orphans, Ahmed’s dream became possible.

"Because of the sponsorship, I was able to cover Ahmed's expenses, as I used to spend it on his life requirements, including food, clothing, and studies, as well as participating in the club,” said Ahmed’s mother.

"Ahmed is now a source of pride for me as a mother," she added with a smile.

Ahmed who used to play football with his neighbors' children when he was young, is now playing with Al-Jazira Club with high demand from several other sports teams. He has also played for Al-Shujaia Sports Club and Al-Tuffah Sports Club. 

Ahmed says that this would not have been possible firstly, without his mother, who supported him throughout this journey and to Qatar Charity secondly, indicating, “Qatar Charity was a reason for me to continue towards achieving the goal.

Ahmed has won several local awards in various football tournaments, but he aspires to participate in Arab and international tournaments.

The campaign "I am not just a number" launched by Qatar Charity, has sponsored 3,477 out of 4,500 orphans targeted. The aim is to secure sponsorships and comprehensive care for orphans in the educational, health, and social aspects, as well as the recreational and training programs.
