Sudanese film Cotton Queen wins top prize at Oujda film festival

The Sudanese film "The Cotton Queen" by Susana Merghani won the prize at the 15th Maghreb International Film Festival.

In the feature film category, the jury awarded its own award to the Moroccan film "Kundava", directed by Ali Benjelloun, while Moroccan Farouk Aznabat won the award for best actor for his performance in this film.

Ivorian actress Deborah Lope Nani won the Best Actress award for her role in the film "Heaven Without Earth", directed by Tunisian director Areej Sehiri.

In terms of artistic awards, the Egyptian film "Stories" directed by Abu Bakr Shawky won the best screenplay award, while the best director award went to Saudi Shahd Amin for the film "Hijra".
