The Qatar Calendar House announced that the inhabitants of the globe are on a date with the first lunar eclipse during this year, which coincides with the timing of the full moon of Shawwal this year.

This eclipse will occur on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 (14th of the month of Shawwal 1442 AH).

It will be the first total eclipse of the moon since January 2019.

Four eclipses will occur this year, two of the moon and two of the sun. The first of these will take place during the early hours of Wednesday when the full moon becomes completely immersed in Earth's dark umbral shadow.

Dr. Bashir Marzouq, the astronomer at the Qatar Calendar House, stated that the earth and the sun are on a straight line, and the earth will be in the middle between the sun and the moon, so it will block the rays of the sun from falling on the surface of the moon.

Some residents of East Asia, the western United States of America, parts of the South American continent, and the Australian continent will be able to monitor and follow the total lunar eclipse.

However, residents of the Arab region including the residents of Qatar will not be able to see this lunar eclipse as it occurs during the daytime. They can all watch the live broadcasts from NASA.
