A big dust storm has lashed different parts of Qatar. The Qatar Meteorology Department shared the below video footage on its Twitter page a few minutes ago.

The Met department has asked citizens and residents of Qatar to be extra careful and exercise the necessary precautions to ensure their safety while the dusty conditions persist.

The recommended safety tips during the dusty weather include:

- Avoiding direct contact with dust. This is particularly important for the elderly as well as asthma patients in addition to those who suffer from respiratory conditions. Those who have recently undergone eye or nose surgery should also safeguard themselves from dust exposure.

- Avoid staying outdoors but if you absolutely have to head out be sure to wear a dust mask.

- Pay special attention to hygiene and wash your face, nose, and mouth frequently to obstruct dust from reaching your lungs. 

- Despite the urge, do not rub your eyes. Rather wash them with water. Rubbing your eyes frequently may lead to an eye infection. 

- If you experience any allergy symptoms, refer to the nearest health center.

- Keep track of the latest weather updates through CAA's weather app or their social media pages.

Yesterday, the Met department has also announced that a cold spell will continue to take over Qatar in the coming days with certain parts of the country experiencing temperatures lower than 10-degree celsius.
