Aimed at spreading environmental awareness and highlighting the efficient use of water and electricity, Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) under the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) opened the fourth edition of the Tarsheed Carnival on Tuesday.

Under the theme, 'It Is Time For Change,' the significant event brings together more than 17 entities who are presenting their respective efforts in protecting the environment and adopting green practices.

The festival which runs until February 27 is taking place at the Kahramaa Awareness Park. It is open to the public every day from 4 pm to 9 pm.

There are a host of activities for children to participate in and learn about the role they can play in environment-preservation.

In addition to this, visitors can take part in competitions and training workshops and also enjoy theatrical and other performances.

In addition to the activities, the festival also features a sustainability bazaar, the first mobile market to offer eco-friendly materials, The Peninsula reported.

Additionally, the carnival provides a great opportunity for the public to learn about some of Qatar's accomplishments in the area of sustainable energy and its initiatives to reduce carbon emissions.

"This year, we want to draw the attention to the need to mobilize efforts and positive change toward achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030," President of Kahramaa, Engineer Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, is quoted to have said by The Gulf Times
