The National Day Organising Committee 2018 announced that ‘As long as it was proven by our deeds’ will be the motto of this year’s celebrations.

Meanwhile, ’Qatar Will Remain Free,’ a line from the national anthem, will also be used this year, reported Gulf Times.

The Committee said that the line ‘As long as it was proven by our deeds’ is a verse taken from one of the poems by Qatar’s Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani. The good work that builds the nation varies from era to era according to the growth of its needs, and it is a necessary condition of its renaissance.

The Committee hoped that the verse would prove to be an inspiration for the Qatari population by pointing out the importance of good deeds.

The theme of National Day 2018 came from the vision of the National Day Organising Committee, which hopes to promote loyalty, solidarity, unity and pride in Qatar’s national identity.

It also emphasises the values of National Day celebrations, which include participation, inspiration, creativity and transparency, according to The Peninsula.

National Day celebrations are not being organised for temporary excitement, but is aimed at displaying the national identity and to educate people about national symbols, Qatar’s Founder and the principles and values of the society.

As Qatar is at the crossroads of a decisive stage in its history, the first lesson is that Qatari people should work hard to achieve self-reliance in science, industry and agriculture. Love for the country must translate into good work, reported Qatar Tribune.

The good work stems from the belief in justice, sincerity, rejection of fanaticism and fighting corruption; all of which are elements of human dignity.

Last year, Qatar had celebrated its National Day under the theme ‘Promise of Prosperity and Glory,’ which had been taken from a quote by HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
