1. QITCOM 2019

Qatar IT Conference & Exhibition (QITCOM) 2019 theme is ‘Safe, Smart Cities’, the exhibition features over 100 speakers, 300 technology exhibitors, 100 startups and 300 innovators and entrepreneurs, making it a one-stop-shop for attendees to learn about smart technologies and exchange next-generation knowledge.

Since its first edition, QITCOM has become Qatar's largest digital technology event bringing together decision-makers, digital technology companies, IT industry professionals, global thought leaders and experts in order to build a better digital future for Qatar.

This year’s edition of QITCOM is particularly significant because it will host Qatar’s first Smart City Expo Doha (SCED), in partnership with the organizers of Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), Fira de Barcelona.

2. KAWS: He Eats Alone

Dates: October 25, 2019, to January 25, 2020

Where: Garage Gallery, Doha Fire Station

Entry: The admission fee for this exhibition is QAR 50 for adults, QAR 25 for Qataris, residents of Qatar and students.

Qatar Museums presents the first exhibition in the Middle East by KAWS (Brian Donnelly, born 1974, USA).

The solo show explores his career and vast oeuvre and features painting and sculpture made over the past 20 years.

KAWS’ imagery has long possessed sophisticated, dark humor, revealing the interplay between art and consumerism, referencing both art history and pop culture.

Donnelly began his career in street art in the 1990s, becoming synonymous with the name KAWS, a tag that became a staple in his ‘sub-vertisments’ (modifications of commercial works).

In addition to more than 40 major pieces exhibited in the Garage Gallery, examples of commercial collaborations designed by KAWS, among them sneakers, skateboards, and toys are on view in a separate archive above Café 999.  A massive 5-meter-tall sculpture, Companion (Passing Through) (2013), in the Fire Station courtyard and an inflatable 40-meter public artwork at the Dhow Harbor, Holiday (2019), also serves to highlight the exhibition.

Admission is free for children under 16, Culture Pass Plus and Culture Pass Family Members, and visitors with disabilities.

3. Asian Night Market

Where: Aspire Park

Time: 5:00 pm to 10:0 pm

Food lovers in Doha, are you ready for another exciting addition of places to visit this month?

Qatar's vibrant food scene has just been enriched further with the opening of the first month-long Doha City (DC) Asian Night Market at Aspire Park.

Some of the best Asian eateries in Qatar, including Filipino, Indian, Pakistani, Thai, Korean, Turkish and Arab outlets, have set up their stalls at the market.

The event offers visitors a chance to not only dig in some scrumptious Asian food, but also allows them to experience the diverse cultures of Asia through crafts and performances.

Organized by DC Event Management and Services jointly with Italian company Innovative Hight-Tech Solutions, the Asian Night Market will see different schools and community groups perform festival dances, modern production numbers, acoustic night and other live acts from Thursday to Saturday.

Moreover, community groups such as chorale, theatre, dance crews, and singers will also entertain the crowd with their performances, while an Acoustic Night will be part of the regular weekend program. In addition to these activities, WASAHQ Culinary Arts will run a cupcake and pizza-making session for children at the event.

While the DC Asian Night Market features over 30 food stalls offering an array of Asian cuisines, there's a lot more on offer such as apparel, cosmetics, toys, and kitchenware, among others.

4. Angry Birds Carnival

Dates: October 17 to November 16, 2019

Where: Doha Festival City

Time: 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Entry: Entry is free for all

There is no place in town as colorful as Angry Birds World!

5. The 4th Cultural Diversity Festival

Dates: October 31 to November 1, 2019

Time: 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Where: Amphitheatre, Katara Cultural Village

Entry: Entry is free for all

The 4th Cultural Diversity Festival, featuring Turkey is happening this weekend. Join them to explore and learn about Turkish culture and enjoy some traditional performances with friends and family.

6. Scrap Art Exhibition

Time: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Where: Souq Wakif  

Entry: Entry is free for all

The exhibition showcases art pieces made of scrap metal, wood, and other waste materials. The aim of this exhibition to educate the community how waste materials can be used to make a masterpiece.

The exhibition features artworks by artists from different countries. More than 30 prominent international artists in the field of scrap art were invited to join the exhibition. They are displaying some of their excellent artworks which differ from figurative sculptures to furniture parts.
