Ministry of Commerce, Qatar Development Bank Hold Workshop on Governance, Risk Management and Compliance

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Qatar Development Bank organised a workshop titled "Governance, Risk Management and Compliance", attended by a number of private-sector representatives, entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Ministry confirmed that the workshop forms part of the joint efforts of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Qatar Development Bank to raise awareness of the importance of applying best practices in governance, risk management and compliance, and to create an investment environment that supports business growth and attracts investment, contributing to the diversification, competitiveness and sustainability of the national economy.

The workshop addressed a number of specialised topics that enabled participants to learn about the concepts of governance, risk management and compliance, and the importance of integrating them to support business sustainability. It also introduced participants to the roles and responsibilities of the relevant parties, accountability mechanisms and sound decision-making methods, and enabled them to apply a practical methodology for identifying and assessing risks.

Participants also learned about the basic requirements for ensuring that small and medium-sized enterprises comply with regulations and laws, and how to transform the principles of governance, risk management and compliance into an integrated framework for companies. The aim was to enhance institutional performance efficiency and build successful and sustainable investment partnerships.

The organisation of the workshop forms part of a series of ongoing workshops and initiatives implemented by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to improve the performance of the private sector and small and medium-sized enterprises. These efforts support the achievement of the highest levels of efficiency, transparency and sustainability, in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
