The third edition of the Cultural Diversity Festival will kick off at the Katara Cultural Village’s amphitheatre today.

In the first performance of the year, Qatari and Indian folkloric bands will perform in front of crowds between 7.30pm and 9.30pm, reported Gulf Times.

In addition to it, around 10 local folklore bands belonging to different communities in the country will also perform.

The festival, which is an annual event, features an array of cultural performances from different nations around the world and aims to act as a bridge between cultures and provide a multicultural harmonious environment, according to The Peninsula.

This year, cultural activities from India, Oman, China, Ghana, Macedonia, Mexico, Turkey, Spain, Czech Republic, Iran, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Bulgaria, Morocco, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Bosnia and Russia will be featured at the festival.

The weekly performances will be open to the public and will be free of charge.

The festival will run from today until March 9, 2019.
