According to an announcement by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), "the strategic dialogue aims to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields and develop the special bilateral relations that depend on common interests and mutual respect."

The announcement states that His Excellency Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will co-chair the session.

The session will focus on Qatar-US cooperation in areas including: politics, economy, culture, education, energy, health, mediation and combating terrorism.

The MOFA announcement stated that "Qatar will stress during the dialogue the need to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue."

Additionally, a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and Letters of Intent pertaining to culture, economy and development are set to be signed as part of this arrangement.
