Coffee is such a key part of people’s daily routines and the research indicates that consuming in moderation can potentially boost energy levels & athletic performance, promote weight loss and protect against chronic diseases.

In contrast, books also make up a significant part of society dating back to the 11th century, when novelist Murasaki Shikibu wrote "The Tale of Genji," considered one of the earliest journals recorded in history.

Cafes and bookstores together are a brilliant idea, since people can read while eating or drinking their favorite meal or drink and entertain themselves simultaneously.

In consideration of coffee lovers and avid readers, we have compiled a list of our favorite places that offer both coffee and books.

Qatar National Library

You can find a variety of books at the Qatar National Library (QNL), as well as computers, PC accessories, a cafeteria, and events! The library has a fine collection of European rare books, Arabic historical and cultural books, manuscripts, and much more!

A variety of beverages, coffee, and food are available at the restaurant, which is comfortably situated on the ground floor of QNL. Safahat is another cafe inside the library that serves delicious coffee and beverages.

Alif Bookstore

It seems as though Alif Stores have it all! On the first floor, you'll find a major collection of Arabic and English books from children through adults, across multiple categories. Also, the cafe upstairs is sure to satisfy your caffeine cravings!

The Drawing Room

An entrepreneur from Qatar founded The Drawing Room in 2017 to fuse a unique design concept that offers a café, a gift store, vintage items, items for children, and a bookstore - where you can purchase the book you desire while you savor your drink.

The Drawing Room is located at The Pearl, Doha, and has a price range of approximately QAR 165 for two people.

Cafe 83

For residents of Al Wakrah Souq, Cafe 83 would be a great place to visit for a delicate cup of coffee or a delicious meal in addition to a wide range of books with different genres.

Cafe 83 also has a variety of foods and beverages with a price range of approximately QAR 130 for two people.

Mokarabia

If you're looking for some Italian coffee, Mokarabia is the place to go. There's also a library in the store for you to read a book while sipping your coffee. 

Mokarabia can be found at Mall of Qatar, Medina Centrale - The Pearl, and Westbay - Ezdan Tower 1 – with a price range of approximately QAR 165 for two people.
