At least for some people, it is common practice to park their cars inside mosque compounds during non-prayer times. The reasons for doing this could be many, including easy availability of space and accessibility.

But the happy days of carefree parking inside mosque compounds have come to an end as the General Directorate of Traffic has made it a punishable offence.

The department, in coordination with mosques, Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Management has announced that illegally parked vehicles will be fined QR300. The vehicle will be confiscated if the offence is repeated, reported The Peninsula.

Traffic patrol vehicles will tour mosque compounds where many people park their cars overnight. Parking will be allowed only when mosques are open for prayer.

What do you think of this? Do you think it will help reduce the practice?
